Mr. C’s favorite food is sushi. Okay, one of his favorite foods. He just likes Asian food hands down, but sushi was the theme for his belated birthday evening. Before we even arrived in Vegas I knew we were taking a trip to the Yellowtail at the Bellagio. For his birthday, he was getting a whole series of firsts.
Our server Mithkah, was just awesome. She helped me sway Mr. C. into pretty much anything. He was afraid of the price but it’s not like we go to Vegas everyday.
Mithkah helped me choose the Tempura Alaskan King Crab. I had heard of the Popping Spicy Crab Roll and had to try that. Mr. C. decided on the sea urchin and noro sushi, both of which you don’t get to try just anywhere.
He loved the ability to try the noro (the belly meat of the blue tuna) and the sea urchin even though the sea urchin (in his words) pretty much tasted like the ocean.
The Popping Spicy Crab Roll was surprisingly good. The red? That’s pop rocks tucked in with crab meat in a california roll.
The Tempura Alaskan King Crab was by far my favorite. The chef combined the classic tempura elements and mixed it up with the southwestern spiciness of jalapeno and cilantro. Very good.
I would recommend the Yellowtail in the Bellagio to anyone visiting Vegas, even if you don’t like sushi. There really is something for anyone. It was a truly original experience and say hello to Mithkah! She enabled me to use chopsticks with some “cheaters” so I didn’t have to eat like a two-year old. (I’m easy to please.)
